NYFW / The Shows / Part 2

For the first time ever Fashion Week went BIG! Yes, they supersized it! Bold, Beautiful and Bigger models sashayed down the runway at the Addition Elle and Torrid shows at NYFW. Talk about a moment in history! For countless years the fashion industry has glorified the slim, slender, skinny (almost sickly) model. From magazine covers to popular television shows the imagine of beauty has always been “thin is in” and if a woman did not fall into that category then they were neither in or attractive. Well look how the that image is slowly changing.  These shows are helping transform the fashion industry with bold empowering moves towards diversity and inclusiveness; not just in fashion but in the world! Embracing oneself and loving the skin your in is not just a novelty, it’s reality!

Addition Elle is a Canada based plus size women’s line; who believes that style has NO size! The brand partnered up with IMG and NYFW to showcase their Holiday Mainline collection on September 11, 2017 at Skylight Clarkson. The fashion show also featured Ashley Graham’s lingerie line which had the audience applauding and shouting to the top of their lungs! Jordyn Woods also presented her street inspired collection called Love & Legend at the show.

I loved the show and all the beautiful, bold, curvasious models that were on the runway! My heart is overjoyed  that fashion is becoming much more inclusive then it once was. Beauty should not be defined by size, race or gender! We are ALL God’s people and were fearfully and wonderfully made by the creator himself! Therefore we are ALL beautiful ! If you liked any of the runway looks that I posted and want to see more please visit their website at www.additional.com

On September 12th 2017 the clothing brand Torrid debuted their Spring/Summer 2018 collection at the Skylight Clarkson Square in Gallery III for NYFW, and I fell in love with each piece. It was beyond amazing to see fashionable stylish clothes for plus size women. Torrid designers Liz Munoz and Kim Sippl believe in embracing all women and helping them bring out their inner beauty through styling and exceptional fit. With over 500 retail stores across America and Canada and an online store the Torrid brand is becoming one of the leading fashion brands for plus size women. “The collection is about art and expression – and the fusion of those two things. We also explored the idea that apparel should reflect the many sides of a woman -she’s never just one thing. The overall result is a juxtaposition between feminine and hard-edgy artistry.” – Liz Munoz & Kim Sippl, Torrid Design

This show was beyond amazing! The models brought their A game and the clothes were sexy,  sassy, and trendy! It was so hard to pick my favorites for this post. I truly loved everything! From the color palettes to the sheer and mesh dresses to the ripped jeans and corseted tops! Super chic and stylish! This show was one of my favorites this fashion week without any hesitation.
